A Poem from Janet Cannon's  Poetry Room at IsleWrite.com

reasons

because rain falls up
late at night on my roof
when i think of you

because on gray days
when the sun sleeps
sideways i stay in bed

because the wind has
hands without fingers
that don't fit my gloves

because that river we
flowed on cancelled
heaven for good or

for other reasons like
the last call of our
tossed fate timid by

the time i left and
began breathing again
i realized i'd forgotten

who you are and who
i am and why our we
ever tried to be us
