A Poem from Janet Cannon's  Poetry Room at IsleWrite.com

the man at the corner

keeping warm he hovers
over a trash can camp fire
two days before christmas
at his open air houston
street empty lot home

he moves his stiff hands
quickly over the flames
rubbing his fingers vigorously
to keep the blood flowing
away from frostbite fears

holiday traffic whizzes by
including a double-long shiny
silver toned limo with dark
coated windows that shelter
the view for those inside
