A Poem from Janet Cannon's  Poetry Room at IsleWrite.com

waning

on the kitchen table
the cardinal rose

you gave me has
turned raven black

after two weeks
inside the cobalt blue

vase those shriveled
petals like only promises

droop quiescently
in the morning sun
